Armored Cars Of Al Capone

Professional photos of two unique armored vehicles in 1928 Cadillac V8 Model 341 Town Sedan and 1930 Cadillac V16 Model 452 Imperial Sedan, made to order for one of the most famous American gangster Al Capone.
These cars are the first in the history of the automobile passenger cars with hidden book.

Singularities of the first VIP-armored car “Cadillac” model 452:
- A serious book as thick as a quarter inch (6.35 mm) and 5-layer armored
- In the side windows on the rear doors were equipped with small slits with lockable from the inside
armored hatches, from which it was possible to fire a gun or automatic
- Discharge of oil into the exhaust pipe to establish a smokescreen in front of the pursuers
- Hatch in the floor through which the road redischarge special sharpened spikes can penetrate all tires pursuing cars

Features of the second VIP-armored car “Cadillac” model 341:
- Reservations are not only the body panels, but the glass
- Flip-down rear window for the convenience of shooting at the pursuers
- Police paint in black and green, as the Chicago police cars of the era.



In December of 1941 after Japanese air attack on Pearl Harbor, an armored Cadillac Al Capone model 341, confiscated from a gangster in 1931 in favor of the U.S. government was used in the protection of U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt to deliver the White House. In 2006, an armored Cadillac Model 341 was sold at auction RM-Auctions – Vintage Motor. Cars in Arizona for $ 621.500.


In 2009, an armored Cadillac Model 452 was sold at auction Bonhams Auction for $ 309.500. In 2010, an armored Cadillac Model 341 again auctioned RM-Auctions – Sports & Classics of Monterey, which will be held on August 13-14.
